Treatment Procedure
before the treatment:
- a full consultation will be carried out and clients will be asked if they suffer from any illnesses such as diabetics, cardio-vascular conditions and if they are currently on medication, as this information is important for the absorption of pigment in the skin and skins healing ability.
- clients will be asked not to have any tweezing or waxing procedures done , nor eyelash perming or tinting , 5 days prior to the treatment and until 2 weeks after the treatment.
- clients will be asked to bring their glasses and not wear contact lenses during or until 3 days after an eye liner procedure.
- clients will be asked not to take any aspirin, or aspirin containing medication or alcohol prior to the treatment. If possible it is best not to take any medication, included vitamin supplements, 5 days prior to the treatment. Note: no medication should be discontinued without first consulting your doctor.
- a patch test will be carried out 48 hours before the procedure.
During treatment
Before the permanent makeup process begins a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to your skin to reduce the level of discomfort felt during the procedure.
During the procedure we use other specialised creams, gels and lotion to minimize swelling and discomfort.
The time of the treatment varies but takes usually from 1 up to 2 hours, depending on the treatment.
There is no risk of contamination due to the use of sterile single use parts of the machine like front casing, needle sleeves, needle caps and top quality surgical needles.
You will be given a mirror and be asked to check several times during the process.
After treatment
you may experience the following for a few days after the treatment:
- there may be a moderate swelling of the eyes and lips for the first 10 to 24 hours
- light bruising may occur although it is rare.
- you may notice the sticking together of the eye lashes in the morning or small amounts of pigment "coming off" with ointment. This is normal.
- lips tend to be very dry after the procedure for the first few days and a chapped lip feeling occurs. Keep lips very moist with the lip balm or special ointment provided by your therapist until complete healing has occurred.
Avoid:
- exposure of procedure area to the full pressure of the water in a shower for 7 days.
- any water, the use of soaps, facial cleansers or make-up removal products on procedure area for 5 to 7 days.
- applying makeup to the pigmented area for 7 days
- rubbing the pigmented area vigorously for the first month after the procedure
- scratching or picking away any crust on pigmented area until fully healed. Any removal of any crust may result in areas with insufficient pigment.
- sunbathing or tanning booths that result in direct exposure to the pigmented area.
- swimming in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, saunas etc. until fully healed.
- using retin A or other chemical peels over the pigmented area in the future.
General remarks on shape and colour:
Permanent makeup colours always appear darker and more vivid until after the healing process is complete. Your final "look" appears more subdued.
Healing process:
Although the procedure will appear to be healed within a week, it will not be fully healed for another 4 to 6 weeks. To ensure colour retention it is important to not re-injure the skin until it has completely healed.
- 18 to 40 years old 3 weeks
- 40 to 60 years old 4 weeks
- 60 years old and up 6 weeks
- all lip procedures take at least 6 weeks to heal.
Touch-up:
The follow up session usually four to six weeks later will allow your permanent make-up artist to refine the enhancement paying particular attention to fine detail and the session is included in the initial price.
Refresh procedure
Your permanent makeup will gradually fade over a number of years leaving a barely there haze of colour in the skin.
Most people opt to refresh their permanent make-up enhancements every year or 2 years in order to refresh their look, referring to their enhancement as 'low maintenance make-up'. The refresh procedure is charged at a low cost maintenance price.
